A Letter to My Email Subscribers
Hey there!
As you know, I’ve been unplugged from email, Substack, and social media for a while, working on a new fiction series and crafting new ways I can support my fellow storytellers. During my time away, I’ve been doing some thinking about this little haint blue corner of the internet we share, and I think it’s time to make some adjustments.
For a while, my emails wandered in and out of your inbox as life, work, books, and all manner of other things carried me along. What started as my Haint Bluesletter got away from me over the years, and I lost sight of my intentions for connecting with you.
If you’re up for it, I’d like to change that. I’d like to foster an experience every time you open a message from me, something that feels less like a newsletter and more like an occasion. That in mind, please consider my newly reimagined Haint Bluesletter an invitation to visit with an old friend.
Come on in and sit for a spell.
Once a month, I’ll open the door and invite you onto my porch—or perhaps into the parlor, the library, the garden, or wherever the story happens to lead us that month.
Because story is what brings us together.
Sometimes we’ll talk about the stories we write. Sometimes the stories we inherit. Sometimes the stories hidden inside old photographs, family legends, books, movies, folklore, history, or the wonderfully strange things that happen when we start paying attention... and setting intentions.
There will be a little astrology, a little tarot, some Southern Gothic wandering, and naturally, the occasional rabbit hole I absolutely had no business falling into but couldn’t resist.
And I don’t intend for you to leave empty-handed either. Before you go, I’m sending you on with a little something to think about—a creative gift, tarot spread, story prompt, resource, or something else I’ve designed especially for you.
Think of my reimagined Haint Bluesletter as a visit to my little house in the South. You bring your curiosity; I’ll have the snacks and stories ready to share.
